Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:12-17 ESV)
The longing of who i want to be, who i was created to be, is summed up in this passage. It ravishes me and reminds me who i am in Christ. i am loved and i am forgiven therefore i am love and i am forgiveness. Those in and of themselves are huge, but i am patient, compassionate, kind, humble, meek, i bear with people, i am thankful, i teach in wisdom and i do it all unto and because of Christ. i don’t always get it right, which is why i need a community who reads this and goes “oh yeah, me too”. We have to bear with one another and offer forgiveness and love even when we have knucklehead moments. Even when we do not see eye to eye theologically or politically or any other way we must love and forgive and bear with each other. i am reminded that Love covers a multitude of sins…i am reminded that Love is Christ…i am reminded that Jesus chose me and i choose Him everyday…i am reminded that i am love because I am His…i am reminded that Love Does. Love does forgiveness, compassion, kindness, humbleness, meekness, patience, thankfulness and it bears all things. My prayer is that Love Does every moment of every day in me and my actions.
